We recently announced that we’re aligning the definition of a Medallion Club team with the BC Financial Services Authority’s (BCFSA) definition starting this year. In short, members who are registered as a team with BCFSA will be considered part of a team for Medallion Club and won’t be eligible for individual Medallion Club status.

To help you understand this change we’ve created an FAQ

Why are we making these changes?

BCFSA, our regulator, changed its rules around team definitions and structures in April.

We’re making these changes to ensure our Medallion Club program’s rules for how teams are defined align with BCFSA’s new rules to ensure members are always meeting their professional requirements.

Registering as a team

Your first step to registering as a Medallion Club team is to register as a team with BCFSA. If your business model includes two or more licensees, BCFSA considers you as a team and requires you register with them.

We encourage you to learn more about BCFSA’s new definitions and regulations if you haven’t already registered as a team.

We’re updating our Medallion Club team forms to ensure compliance with BCFSA’s new rules. As soon as we’ve completed this work, we’ll let you know.

Milestones and Medallion Club teams

Since our announcement, we’ve received feedback from members close to milestone achievements concerned about their status now that BCFSA defines their business model as a team.

We’re currently exploring options for members in this situation. We’ll let you know more about these options as soon as possible.
