Harriet Permut, Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) director of government relations, has won a national Leadership in Advocacy – large board award.

This inaugural award recognizes outstanding advocacy for housing attainability across Canada and is awarded by Harriet’s peers across the country.

Decades of service

For close to two decades, Harriet has provided extraordinary service and her efforts have led to legislation, regulations, policies, and rules favourable to affordable, attainable housing at the local, provincial, and federal levels.

Known for her ability to analyze and understand existing and proposed, highly complex legislation and regulations, and foresee proposed changes, Harriet has provided strategic guidance and sound advice to REBGV directors, officers, and CEOs, as well as countless local, provincial and federal government politicians and their staff about attainable housing.

Government Relations Committee

Harriet has opened the doors of opportunity to a vibrant and diverse REALTOR® community by encouraging members to serve on the REBGV’s Government Relations Committee (GRC) and/or become actively involved in advocacy efforts by engaging members as sources of solutions and recommendations to making homes more affordable and attainable.

Under her leadership, GRC members yearly collaborate and build trusted relationships with elected officials in 23 municipal governments, three regional districts, local First Nations, 32 provincial MLAs and 17 federal MPs and policy makers in communities across the REBGV area.

Members advocate for industry solutions and recommendations and have seen many of these recommendations implemented at the municipal, regional, provincial, and federal levels of government.

Making positive change

As a result of her leadership, REBGV can take credit for government legislation, regulations, rules, and policies that have been implemented that benefit affordable, attainable homeownership.

The award was presented at GR Pro Day, an annual educational event in Ottawa for organized real estate government relations professionals.

Congratulations Harriet!
