REALTOR® Daniel Edward ‘Dan’ West passed away suddenly in August. He was 73.

Dan was born in Victoria and grew up in New Westminster. After high school, he went to the United States to pursue his education and athletics for a few years before returning to British Columbia. He worked as a butcher, and later worked on the pipelines before a foot injury led him to consider a career change.

He decided to become a REALTOR® and was first licensed with Royal LePage Real Estate Services in September 1987. He moved to Sutton Group West Coast Realty in 1989 and stayed there until he retired in 2002. He was an engaged Realtor who loved his work and his clients because he was passionate about homes and people.

Outside of real estate, Dan loved to travel and tell stories of his many adventures, including describing any fantastic food he’d eaten or beautiful cars he’d driven or seen along the way. He especially loved getting away to Cabo San Lucas, where fantastic food and beautiful cars were easy to find. He’ll be greatly missed by many for his humour, positive outlook, and loving personality.

Dan is survived by his adult children Aaron (Ann) West and Alana (Matt) Nelson, as well as his much-loved grandson, Benjamin, his sisters Bobbie (Bill) Boberski, Michele Cobb, Del Gordon, brothers Ray West and Terry West, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Dan was predeceased by his loving parents, his brothers Burt and Mark, and his sister Sharon.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Dan at 11 am this Saturday, October 22, at St. Mary the Virgin Sapperton Church, 121 East Columbia Street, New Westminster.
