Former REALTOR® Doreen Baxter passed away in November. She was 89.

Doreen was born in Edmonton and moved to Vancouver with her family when she was in elementary school. She graduated from the Pitman Business School and was the assistant credit manager at Birks Jewelry at just 15 years old. She also worked at the American Consulate in Vancouver for many years.

After raising her family, she decided to become a Realtor and was first licensed with A.E. LePage Real Estate Services (now Royal LePage) in July 1982. In 1995, she joined Showcase Realty Plus Ltd. where she stayed until she retired in 2013.

"Doreen’s loving nature and caring touch made her a natural fit as a Realtor. She cared deeply about her clients and left everyone who crossed her path feeling loved, respected, and elated. "

Outside of real estate, Doreen and her late husband James were passionate about horses. They raised and showed horses at events in Langley, Whonnock, Prince George, and Port Coquitlam. She also loved to play games, especially rummoli, cribbage, golf, bowling, or tennis with her friends, and was a lover of fine foods and wines. She had an angel’s voice and loved to sing.

Doreen is survived by her son Brent (Sharlene), son Bradley (Corinna) and daughter Glenda (Stewart) Streifel; grandchildren Brandi, Dalton, Liam, Megan, and Jet; great grandchildren Logan, Max and Kai, her beloved sister Laura and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Stephen and Laura (Hedley) Briggs, brother Jack and sister Audrey.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village who took such loving care of mom during the past year.
