Longtime REALTOR® and former owner of the Whistler Real Estate Company Pat Kelly passed away after a short bout with cancer. He was 66.

A West Vancouver native, Pat graduated from Sentinel Secondary School, and then UBC, before embarking on a remarkable real estate career.

He moved to Whistler in 1980 and was first licensed with Macgregor Pacific Realty in 1982. He eventually became a co-owner and helped transition it to the Whistler Real Estate Company. In 1999, he became the full owner, and he sold the company when he retired in 2020.

"Throughout his career, Pat established himself as a community pillar in Whistler and Pemberton. His colleagues remember him as true leader, a lifelong seeker of knowledge and wisdom, and someone any Realtor could go to when they needed help or advice."

He had several passions outside of real estate. He was an athlete who excelled particularly in basketball and golf. He was a founding member of the Big Sky Golf Club in Pemberton. He sat on numerous community committees and boards, coached elementary school basketball, and was a key supporter of Whistler Arts and Whistler’s local art and culture scene.

He’s survived by his wife Julie, daughters Shannon (Jason) and Heather, father Emerson, brother Michael (Brenda), sister Barbara, and step siblings Tony (Laura), Tara (Mike), and Danielle (Dan). He’s predeceased by his mother, Patricia.

Pat’s life and career are more fully detailed in this piece from Pique News Magazine.
